Financial Reporting Analyst

The Opportunity

The Financial Reporting Analyst is an integral part of the finance and administration team. S/he prepares the monthly financial statements for management, circulating the appropriate reports to each manager monthly, assists in the analysis of the results and coordinates the analysis with the Director, Finance & Administration.  The position also tracks and monitors the major contracts and provides senior analyst support for Payroll and Benefits administration.  With direction from the Director, Finance & Administration, the position designs financial statement formats and financial forms. S/he also provides support of the Finance Assistant in the data entry and processing when required, and communicates with suppliers and staff regarding contracts, project and payroll financial matters when appropriate and strives to provide effective financial management information.  The position participates in improving financial systems generally to make them more efficient and easier to use.  This position is part of the administrative team which collaborates in providing administrative support across the organization.  Finally, the Financial Reporting Analyst serves to back up the Finance Assistant.

 The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a tech savvy, finance professional that can balance efficiency with strong attention to detail. The incumbent will ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with Crossroad’s mission, strategic priority, policies, standards and systems.  S/he will be an enthusiastic ambassador for Crossroads International and an effective collaborator that works with members of the finance and administration team, as well as with other parts of the organization to ensure timely and superior level of customer service with our stakeholders.  

 The Role: 

  • Oversees and keeps all project files up to date
  • Prepare reports such as P&L reports and Transaction Listing
  • Prepare actual vs budget/forecast and prior year variance analysis
  • Manages and records all volunteer expenses
  • Works alongside Program staff and ensures that all inquiries are responded to in a timely manner
  • Improve reporting proficiency and expand the use of Crossroads accounting software and other queries and reporting tools
  • Ad hoc reporting and analyses
  • Prepares documentation for external auditors
  • Provide assistance to the Finance Assistant when needed
  • Creates forecast reports based on analysis of current and previous financial data
  • Completes comprehensive analyses of transactions discrepancies and completes a review and follow up on any outstanding items
  • Manage and record all partner reconciliations and expense processing transactions
  • Other duties as requested

 Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience with ACCPAC processing daily transactions in A/P, G/L, Bank Service modules, designing reports
  • Experience with International development funders such as Global Affairs, USAid, European Aid and with voluntary cooperative organizations
  • A related post-secondary diploma
  • Enrolled in the CPA certification program an asset
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and financial reporting practices
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Fast and accurate data entry skills
  • Bilingual, strong oral communications and reading skills in French and English
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Previous experience within a not for profit environment is an asset.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, able to work quickly, efficiently and independently and as part of a team.

 Location:  This position is based in Toronto or Montreal
