Rocío Valencia (Burikina Faso 2017)

Khadim Mboup CheikhalI’m pleased to have the opportunity to join Crossroads International for my first mandate in Ouagadougou as a Communications advisor for L’Association d’Appui et d’Éveil Pugsada (A.D.E.P.). This organization works to improve young girls’ legal status and living conditions in Burkina Faso. I believe it’s very beneficial to use my skills and experience as a volunteer to help an organization like A.D.E.P build capacity and implement a communications plan that answers their needs.

A graduate in Art History from Concordia University, I first gained a strong philanthropic experience and developed my communications skills. Then I went to Bolivia to volunteer with the Quebec sans frontières program then to intern with Global Affair Canada’s International Youth Internship Program. Today, I am convinced that getting involved in international development was the right choice. It also means I get the opportunity to discover Africa for the first time and in agreement with my values.
