Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

Location: Bolivia - La Paz

Partner: AOPEB

Starting of the mandate: Spring 2017

Duration: 6 months

Context

Crossroads International is an international development organization that is reducing poverty and increasing women’s rights around the world. Working with local partners and supported by hundreds of volunteers each year, Crossroads leverages expertise and resources, North and South, required to help people overcome poverty and assert their human rights.

In Bolivia, the Asociación de Organizaciones de Productores Ecológicos de Bolivia (AOPEB) is in charge of promoting the development of organic production. Since 1991, it has supported the development of environmentally-friendly agriculture and sustainable use of biodiversity, respecting international standards and generating proposals for national standards. As the protagonists of this type of farming are organized rural and indigenous farmers, AOPEB also promotes this type of agriculture in respect of the wisdom of Andean and Amazonian cultures. AOPEB is a non-profit and socially-minded third level association that represents 85 partners. It currently includes approximately 70,000 organic farmers from the country's 9 departments and 90 municipalities. This comes as a result of the growth in the organic farming sector in Bolivia.

AOPEB has 3 web systems that are already functional and storing data on the cloud: Ecomercado, SPG and SIEMA (system of control and monitoring of projects). With respect to SIEMA, the AOPEB is making some adjustments in the source code by structuring result module indicators that use Frontier Visuals. Staff will receive support in the finishing and development of modules, creation of reports and statistical indicators, the setting up of SIEMA's security system, and in filling the AOPEB's database.
