Give them the Best Gift this holiday season

Hope isn’t easily gift-wrapped, but making a gift to Crossroads International this holiday season on behalf of someone you care about offers just that. With each gift, you’ll be helping to build hope for brighter futures and exciting opportunities that will have long-lasting and powerful effects on women, men, and children in Western and Southern Africa and Bolivia.

These aren’t gifts that will be used up and forgotten after the holidays. They represent a commitment to strengthening the capacity of individuals and organizations driving change in some of the poorest parts of the world.

Making a gift is easy: simply select a gift and card below to send to your family member, friend, or colleague, letting them know you made a donation to Crossroads International in their honour. If you would prefer to give an amount that isn’t provided here, please enter it on the last page of the eCard form.

If you prefer to make your gift by phone, call 1.877.967.1611 or email us at michael@cintl.org, ext. 229.

planting change

Success is growing every day in Western Africa and Bolivia, where more than 12,500 people have improved their living conditions with rising incomes since 2009. With Crossroads’ support of local organizations offering technical training and marketing guidance, individuals have created thriving agricultural and business opportunities. The resulting increased income improves their access to essential services, including health care and education.

Career opportunities

Youth entrepreneurship programs generate economic opportunities and empower young people to take control of their future. With Crossroads support, our partners increased their job creation by 61 per cent over last year through innovative entrepreneurial programs in Mali and Senegal. By acquiring trade skills in areas such as construction, animal husbandry, food processing and garment making, complemented by training in accounting, management, and marketing, young people are successfully opening their own businesses and contributing to their communities.

autonomy women

Throughout Western Africa, local women operated 12 cooperatives last year with the support of Crossroads, including KOTAKI in Niger. This shea butter cooperative increases income for rural women, which enables them to access healthcare, nutrition and education for themselves and their families. In addition to the economic benefits, women developed confidence and leadership skills from managing the cooperative, which fuelled successful advocacy efforts that secured the commitment of local authorities to protect shea butter trees.

access to justice

More than 9,000 women, men, and children in Ghana were reached by Legal Literacy Volunteers with the support of Crossroads last year. These volunteers prepare rural Ghanaians, who have little access to lawyers or the justice system, with the skills and know how to seek legal recourse to defend their rights. Because of their outreach efforts, women have reclaimed land they should have rightfully inherited, they’ve taken a stand against abuse, and they’ve challenged illegal customary practices such as widows being “given” to their brothers-in-law.

empowering women

Girls who attend Empowerment Clubs in Swaziland know that they have the power to change their world. With this donation to Crossroads International, you will help a girl attend a Girls’ Empowerment Club, where she will learn to build the courage necessary to create a brighter future for herself and her community. Swaziland has the highest rate of HIV infection in the world, and one in three girls will face sexual abuse, so these Girls’ Clubs are key to providing girls the information and support they need to protect themselves and make lasting changes in their lives.
