Celebrate the spirit of volunteerism and to learn more about Hill’s experiences during a Q+A with CBC Radio’s Metro Morning news reader Jill Dempsey. A short reading from Hill’s new novel “The Illegal” and a book signing will follow.

Supporting self-reliance in Swaziland

I blame my mother…. Long before gap years, ecotourism and volunteering became the trend it was my mother who taught me the value of volunteering as a child.

I have spent half of my adult life living and working abroad, so when an advertisement from Crossroads International about a volunteer mandate at a women’s empowerment organization in Swaziland landed in my inbox, no one in my life was surprised when I boarded a plane 15 months ago.
