Crossroads International is an international development organization that is working towards reducing poverty and increasing women’s rights around the world. Working with local partners supported by hundreds of volunteers each year, Crossroads leverages expertise and resources, North and South, required to help people overcome poverty and assert their human rights.

FLAS is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been successfully operating in the field of sexual and reproductive health in Swaziland since 1979. What’s more, it is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

The mission of FLAS is to contribute to a country that ensures its young people enjoy good health as a fundamental right, live free from HIV/AIDS and have the confidence and capacities to make a meaningful contribution to the sustainable livelihood of self and others. FLAS believes in and advocates for the right to informed choice for all and strives to ensure that the people of Swaziland have access to information and high-quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services.

FLAS has very strong networks and relationships with government and funders.  FLAS is consulted as an expert on SRHR issues and is a leader in work with youth.  However, FLAS does want to scale up their advocacy with the government and reduce stigma related to SRHR with the public.  Finally, FLAS is prioritizing creating private sector connections to increase financial sustainability.  However, FLAS still needs to work in engaging the public to strengthen the image of the Association especially in providing clinical SRHR services to youth, something that is not readily accepted by Swazi in the country.  To effectively reach Swazis through all of FLAS’ channel, the organization needs to be conscious of how it communicates its goals to the Swazi general public.

Crossroads and FLAS have been working in partnership since 2010.  Crossroads support has focused mainly in the area of advocacy for equal sexual and reproductive health and rights through support in the areas of communications, campaigning, training in human rights-based approach, HRBA, and technical areas like resource mobilisation, monitoring, research and evaluation.
